The skyline where the towers of the World Trade Center once proudly stood is a sight that new visitors and next generations will never have the chance to experience.
To commemorate the 10th anniversary of September 11, New Yorker, Brian August has developed a concept for an iPhone app that utilises augmented reality to bring the towers back to life.
By holding their smartphone to the sky, users will be guided to see a pencil-like outline of the towers in the exact position where they once stood 110 stories high. Users can capture their photo and add a personal story, which can be shared on Facebook and Twitter.
The app is currently being funded through crowd-sourcing on Kickstarter.
Insight
A great use of augmented reality to deliver a powerful experience that would not otherwise be possible.
