Offline to online junk mail eliminator

Published on the 3rd April 2012

Tired of getting unsolicited flyers, pamphlets and magazines in the mail? Seattle-based Readabl’s PaperKarma mobile app now makes unsubscribing as easy as taking a picture! This simple yet useful app allows users to take a picture of the unwanted junk mail they’d like to stop receiving using an Android, iPhone, or Windows Phone.

Users then upload the image to PaperKarma which uses its database to find out who generated the mailing list and works to have them unsubscribed.

Approximately 44% of unsolicited mail in the US ends up as landfill each year without ever being opened. PaperKarma aims to reduce the carbon imprint by using its resources and facilities to help consumers unsubscribe and eliminate junk mail.

Such problems are not only a concern for consumers but can also be a significant waste for the companies that send them. Perhaps we should all be asking how we might help reduce wastage and reach consumers more effectively.
