German shoe retailer Goertz has transformed an outdoor media installation into an effective retail space, delivering a personal and social experience. Using Microsoft Kinect sensors, people can ‘virtually’ try on any shoe from their catalogue.
Similar to other virtual changing rooms and QR code purchasing tools that we’ve seen recently, Goertz integrates virtual and online shopping. The shoe fitting experience allows people to send photos of themselves to their Facebook friends for feedback, as they virtually try on the shoes. They are also given a QR code to scan, so they can buy their shoe of choice online and secure a next day delivery.
