To promote the new Toyota Etios campaign ‘Here to make you smile’, an empty store front in Cape Town, South Africa was transformed into an interactive window installation made entirely from second hand or discarded objects, and driven by tweets.
Passers-by were asked to tweet what makes them smile using the hashtag #etiossmile. The smile tweet was then read by a Twitter app which unlocked a sweet and sent it rolling down and out the shop window as a reward for sharing.
This cute, interactive stunt was a great way for Toyota to spread their brand message, and with the number of tweet-sampling ideas popping up over the last few weeks, it appears that tweeting and hashtags are establishing themselves as a way for real-life interactions.
